MELTS (Energy Acronym)

From the time sunlight bursts through the window until the school bus brings them home from school, students are surrounded by energy. The MELTS acronym is a great way to teach students about the types of energy outlined in the K-5 science TEKS.

Taking students on a scavenger hunt around the classroom or school building in search of these types of energy is a great way to engage students and to show them all of the ways energy is part of their lives. Consider taking a virtual scavenger hunt using the video in our “What is Energy?” post.
