Let’s Rock

Geologists looking for petroleum must locate porous and permeable rocks that may contain oil and/or natural gas. Have you ever wondered how they do this? Geologists use sound waves to locate rocks that may contain oil and/or natural gas. Sound waves are affected by different types of rock. In this lesson, students will conduct experiments and make observations related to how sound travels through different objects.
