Analyzing Informational Text

The ability to use comparison skills is useful in many areas of life from selecting the best product, deciding which classes to enroll in or selecting the best presidential candidate. In this lesson, students will use informational text from the Texas Railroad Commission that describes how land used for mining is reclaimed and restored to its natural state. Then students will identify characteristics of informational text by comparing it to a different type of writing: poetry. Learn more about the Texas Railroad Commission here.
